1. Goals

The Núcleo de Comunicação e Educação from Universidade de São Paulo (NCE/USP) and the Associação Brasileira de Profissionais e Pesquisadores em Educomunicação (ABPEducom) unite to organize the II International Congress on Communication and Education to be held from November 12-14, 2018, at USP, in São Paulo, Brazil. The event celebrates the anniversary of 20 years of its first edition, that in may of 1998 promoted the worldwide launch of the Educommunication concept to an audience of Media Education experts from 30 countries on five continents. Concomitant to the II International Congress, it will occur the VIII Brazilian Meeting of Educommunication. The two events activities will take place on the ECA / USP campus, Cidade Universitária, Butantã, São Paulo, Brazil. The II International Congress on Communication and Education has as general theme: “Midiatic Education: democratic practicals for social transformation”, and it has the follow main goals:

• To Bring together experts from European, North American, African and Latin American countries to analyze the evolution of media and information education practices over the last 20 years. Speakers from Argentina, Cape Verde, Canada, Colombia, Spain, Guinea Bissau, Italy, Mexico, Peru and Portugal are already confirmed.
• To Join  those responsible for the public policies management and the private sector actions in the areas of media and information education, as well as, researchers and leaders of programs of formation and cultural diffusion in the interface Communication / Education , in Brazil and in other countries, for an exchange of information in that areas.
• To Enroll the public benefited by the programs implemented in formal (school) and non-formal education spaces (maintained by companies, media organs and civil society organizations) into the discussion on the perspectives that originated from the knowledge diffusion in the field, with the objective of a media education that meets the needs of current and future generations.

2. About the program

From these goals, the international event will promote, in the morning, three Round Tables formed mainly by international guests. In the afternoon, the both events will feature varied and sequenced programming, including:

• 12 Thematic Panels that will promote  discussions about strategic issues on the approximation and articulation of institutions, experts and civil society groups involved in media education;
• 30 Thematic Groups, destined to the presentation of 120 (hundred and twenty) works selected by the scientific committee of the event from those inscribed in both events.
• 09 Workshops on educational practices, selected among those inscribed by the same specific commission.

There will also be a diversified cultural program, actions of educommunicative coverage by children, youth, besides parallel activities to the event to be announced in the final programming. Registration TO REGISTER CLICK HERE Key dates and deadlines

CALL FOR PAPER
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: July 10, 2018

I – Abstract Submission guidelines -the abstract authors must complete the registration form from may 2, to july 10, 2018. -The author responsible for the registration is the main author, and must inform his/her personal data for cadastre and contact; Only two (2) abstract will be allowed for each main author. The author may participate in other abstract as long as he/she is not the main author (first author); Each approved abstract must have at least one participant registered in the Congress; The e-mail address informed in the abstract submission will be used for future communications related to the abstract submitted /inscribed. It is the responsibility of the main author to inform the other authors about abstract submission status and  to verify the receipt of e-mails in the registered electronic address (e-mail); -The authors maximum limit for each work is five (5) authors; The submission of more than two abstracts as main author will automatically cancel all abstracts submitted for evaluation. - Enrollment as "lead author" in more than two papers will automatically cancel all papers submitted for evaluation

II – Abstracts topics The submitted abstract must be in accordance with the main theme of the event and be inscribed in one of the following thematic topics:

TRAJECTORY - Paths of education and / or media education and public policies Summary: To promote exchanges of information and produce a discussion on the previous and future of the field, with focus on expansion and legitimization of educommunicatives practices and/or educational-medias as public policy of education for children, adolescents and youth, in the Brazil and in the world.

SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION  - Educommunication and/or Media Education, in the context of diversity, inclusion and equity policies. Summary: To discuss legislation, pedagogical guidelines and national and international experiences that relate the themes of diversity, inclusion and equity to pedagogical innovations based on the parameters of educommunication and media education.

FORMATION – The formation of Educommunication professionals in Media-Education Summary: To promote dialogues about the modalities of professionals formation that meets the demands for specialized professionals capable of leading to different audiences of the country (students, media users of media and digital resources) the concepts and methodologies inherent to an adequate media and informational education.

ENVIRONMENT - Advances in the relationship between Communication and education in the context of environmental education and sustainable development Summary: Disseminate and debate the different aspects inherent in the modalities through which the Social-Environmental Educommunication projects have been implemented in both areas of environmental preservation or in training for sustainability, either in school curricula and in non-formal education.

YOUTH PROTAGONISM - The participation of children and young people as protagonists of the processes of media-education and Educommunication. Summary: Demonstrate and discuss the effective participation of children and young people on processes and on the management of educational and media-educational programs, analyzing the possibilities of social transformation that emerge from the appropriation of media and digital technologies by young people.

RESEARCH – The state of the art in scientific research focused on the relationship between Communication and Education Summary: Dissemination of the results of scientific research aimed at Educommunication and Media-Education, focusing on the articulation of scientific research proposals with the objective of ensuring that the epistemological effort becomes a subsidy to legitimize and improve practices in the area.

III – FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The main author must fill in all the requested fields. The abstract should have maximum of 2800 characters. THE SCIENTIFIC COMMISSION WILL SELECT THE PRESENTATIONS FROM THE ABSTRACT SUBMITTED. Abstract content:

1. a) Introduction and objectives
2. b) Methods.
3. c) Results.
4. d) Conclusion.

Abstracts can be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish. It is not necessary to provide references in the abstract. Typography effects (bold, italic, CAPITAL, etc.) should not be used to emphasize words in the abstract. It will not be possible to change the files after the "final submission" of the abstract. Once the abstract is approved, the main author will receive an e-mail from the organization of the event and the complete version of paper have to be submit until September 30, 2018 by the author. The organization of the event will make available the template for submission of the complete paper. For publication purposes, the article will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee, which may request adjustments.

IV - IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS In case of acceptance of the abstract, the main author must pay the registration fee until September 30, 2018; according to the rules for submitting the work. They will be considered as tiebreakers: innovation and originality of the work.

1. Key dates and deadlines

02/04 to 10/07/2018 – Abstract submission 20/07/2018 – Acceptance abstract notification.   30/07/2018 – Disclosure of the final list of approved works, with date, place and time of presentation. 10/10/2018 – Full registration of the presenting author. Attention: Non-payment of the registration fee automatically withdraw the approval of the work. The status of graduation student must be sent to email secretariaabpeduco1@gmail.com together with proof of payment for confirmation of the registration discount. The absence of the voucher will cancel the registration. Under no circumstances will the registration fee be refunded after payment.
